Hace mucho vi una pelicula en la cual decía la siguiente frase: " No cualquiera puede convertirse en un gran artista, pero un gran artista sí puede provenir de cualquier lugar."
Este sentimiento se ha quedado conmigo desde ese día y son momentos como el del día de hoy que traen mas relevancia a esa frase. Josh Jacobs es una persona con una gran mezcla de influencias tanto de New York como de Puerto Rico pero ha se convertido en un artista en el cual su mensaje es muy claro: Debemos cambiar la mentalidad de la industria musical. Este chico nacido en Brooklyn de padres puertorriqueños, fue expuesto a una fuerte cultura del hip-hop 90 lo que lo llevo a convertirse en este gran artista.Su amor por la musica empezo desde los 9 años y desde ese momento empezo su lucha, la de hacer conocer su musica y su mensaje al mundo entero.Su camino apenas esta empezando pero una cosa si les digo, a este chico los vamos a escuchar en todo lado en muy poco tiempo. Su sed de conocimiento, y de compartir su historia con los demas y que esta involucre a su publico hace que este artista se separe del resto para mostrarnos la verdadera cara del hip hop. En estos tiempo donde el mundo esta en crisis es cuando más necesitamos de este tipo de persona para crear e incentivar el cambio.
Para mi es un placer poder conocerlo y quiero compartirles la entrevista que le realize en exclusiva para el blog


Entrevista Exclusiva de Josh Jacobs para Tres Chic.


1) Tell us a little bit about where you are from?
Cuentanos acerca de donde creciste.


Josh: I am from New york. Was born and raised in east new york brooklyn. It was a pretty rough neighborhood and i grew up in a big family household.

Josh: Yo soy de New York. Nací y crecí en la parte este de Brooklyn, New York. Era un barrio bastante peligroso y crecí en un gran hogar de familia.

2) What made you fall in love with hip hop at age 9?
¿Qué te hizo enamorarte del hip hop a la edad de 9 años?

Josh: My mother, father, uncles, aunts, and cousins all played hip hop music around me. They loved the music and i got into it at a young age. I started listening to tracks by kriss kross, house of pain, eric b and rakim, public enemy, krs one and others thanks to my father and uncles but i really started to think about rapping once i heard artists such as biggie, 2pac, big pun and eminem. Im also puerto rican so salsa was also played in my household alot. im very eclectic so i listen to everything from prince to Queen (the band).

Josh: Mi madre, padre, tios, tias y primos todos escuchaban hip hop alrededor mio. Ellos amaban la música y yo me involucre a muy temprana edad. Yo empece a escuchar canciones de  kriss kross, house of pain, eric b and rakim, public enemy, krs one y otros gracias a mi padre y tios per realmente empece a pensar en rapear cuando escuche a los artistas:
biggie, 2pac, big pun y eminem. Yo tambien soy puertorriqueño, así que la salsa tambien se escuchaba en mi casa mucho. Soy muy eclectico asi yo escucho de todo desde Prince hasta Queen (la banda).

3)What do you feel when you hear music?
¿Qué sientes al escuchar música?

Josh: Emotional. In my opinion, music is a representation of life and every artist displays there own feelings of life through their music from love to hate, from struggle to success, from happiness to sadness and so on. It is also used as a reflection to the audience in relation to their own lives. it allows them to feel the music and be one with it.

Josh: Emocion. En mi opinion, la musica es la representacion de la vida y muchos artistas expresan sus sentimientos acera de la vida por medio de la musica desde amor al odio, desde la lucha hasta el exito, desde la felicidad hasta la tristeza y asi sucesivamente. Es algo que tambien se usa como una reflexion para el publico  en relacion con sus propias vidas. Tambien les permite a ellos sentir la musica y ser una con ella.

4)Which is the most powerfull power that you can give through your music?
¿Cuál es el mensaje más poderoso que puedes brindar por medio de tu música?


Josh:Inspiration. I want my music to inspire. I also want my music to make people think. In the music industry today (especially in hip hop), i feel like we've dumb down so much that fans have become less interested in feeling and hearing the music and more interested in dancing and indulging themselves in it (with alcohol drugs etc.) Yes its ok to party once and a while but we want our generation to aspire to aim higher and also live better lives and i feel we should also put those messages inside our music as well. These are trying times with all that were seeing in the news Cops and Young Afro American Men being murdered, immigrants not being allowed to enter the country etc. these are issues that if seen back in the day, music artists such as James Brown, Aretha Franklyn, Michael Jackson, Bruce Brinsteen, and more would have addressed in their music and tried to make change cause thats what real artists do. Use their platform to influence the masses.

Josh: Inspiración. Yo quiero que mi música inspire. Yo tambien quiero que mi música haga pensar a las personas. En la industria de la música hoy en día (en especial hip hop), yo siento que hemos embrutecido tanto a los fans que se han vuelto menos interesados en sentir y escuchar la musica y mas interesados en bailar y entregrarse a sí mismos en ella (con alcohol o drogas, etc). Si, esta bien irse de fiesta de vez en cuando pero nosotros queremos que nuestra generacion inspire a algo mas alto y que tambien vivan mejores vidas y yo pienso que tambien debemos poner esos mensajes en nuestra musica. Estos son tiempos de tratar con todo lo que estamos viendo en las noticias con los policías y con los jovenes y hombres afroamericanos siendo asesinados, immigrantes que no se les permite entrar al pais, etc, estas son los asuntos que si se vieran en tiempo atras, los musicos como James Brown, Aretha Franklyn, Michael Jackson, Bruce Brinsteen, y mas tomarian estos asuntos y los pondrian en su musica y tratarian de provocar el cambio eso lo que hacen los verdaderos artistas. Usan su plataforma para influenciar a las masas.

 5)What do you think that hip hop is missing in these days?
¿Qué piensas que le hace falta al hip hop en estos días?

Josh: Integrity and Knowledge. Hip hop wasnt derived on the idea that money, cars, cloths, drugs and attractive men and woman make us happy and thats what i feel we have been pumping to the young generation. This is a craft and an artform derived from the struggle. Artists were challenged to use their lyricism and knowledge to tell their story. Times have changed and i feel its time for us to start going back to that.

Josh: Integridad y conocimiento. El hip hop no daba la idea que el dinero, carros, ropa, drogas y mujeres y hombres atractivos nos hacian felices y eso es lo que yo siento que estamos bombeando a las generaciones jovenes. Eso es un oficio y una forma de arte derivado de la lucha. Los artistas son retados a utilizar la lírica y el conocimiento para contar su historia. Los tiempos han cambian y yo siento que es tiempo para regresar a eso.

6) New York is the most important city in the world in turns of creativity, what New York is givig you as an artist?
La cuidad de New York es la mas importante en el muendo en cuestios de creatividad, ¿que te ha brindado New York como artista?


Josh: A headache (chuckle). New York has made me into the artist that i am today. However, i feel like as far as hip hop is concerned, New York has lost its way.  The south has taken over the industry so much that it seems we've overly adapted to their sound so much that we've lost our own. Its sad to be honest especially when this is where it all started. We've lost support for one another, we've lost our sound, and we've lost our way. Yes Jay Z is still atop the industry, but who else? There hasnt been another new york artist that has been able to rise to those highs since him and other new york artists have circum to the power of the music industry and decided to make southern tracks in order to still be successful and make money. It is because of artists such as Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole that real hip hop still has some young relevance, but theyre both not from  NY. We need someone that is.

Josh: Un dolor de cabeza (se rie). New York me ha convertido en el artista que soy hoy en día. No obstante, Yo siento que en cuestion de hip hop, New York ha perdido su rumbo. La parte del sur ha tomado la industria tanto que parece que nosotros nos hemos adaptado a su sonido tanto que hemos perdido el propio. Es muy triste honestamente en especial siendo el lugar donde yo empecé. Hemos perdido el apoyo mutuamente, hemos perdido el sonido, hemos perdido nuestro rumbo. Si Jay Z sigue estando en el tope de la insdustria, pero ¿quien mas?. No ha habido otro artista new yorkino que haya sido capaz de llegar tanto como él y otros artistas han sucumbido al poder de la industria que han decidido hacer canciones del sur para asi seguir siendo exitosos y hacer dinero. Es gracias a artistas como Kendrick Lamar and J.Cole que el verdadero hip hop se mantiene relevante pero ellos no son de New York. Nosotros necesitamos alguien como ellos.

7) What makes you different from others hip hop artist?
¿Qué te hace diferente a ti de otros artistas de hip hop?

Josh: In all honesty, im still figuring myself out as an artist and am trying my hardest to separate myself from the pack but if i had to take a guess it would be my reason. I wanna change the culture and influence peoples lives. I wanna touch people and make them feel my music, not just hear it. I want them to listen (there's a difference). I want them to be able to heed my music and relate to it. To love it and for my music to be timeless.


Josh:Honestamente, yo todavia estoy descubriendome a mi mismo como artista y estoy tratando fuertemente de separarme a mi mismo del resto pero si tendria que adivinarlo seria mi propia razon. Yo quiero cambiar la cultura y la influencia de la vida de las personas. Yo quiero tocar a las personas y hacer que ellos sientan la musica, no que solamente la oigan. Yo quiero que ellos escuchen (que es muy diferente). Yo quiero que ellos sean capaces de prestar atencion a mi musica y relacionarse con ella. Que la adoren y que mi musica sea eterna.

8) What is your biggest dream right now?
¿Cuál es tu mas grande sueño en estos momentos?

Josh: To perform in from of hundreds of thousands of people. To be loved and admired for my messages and for people to get to know and love me for what i do and who i am, an artist.

Josh: Presentarme ante miles de personas. Ser querido y admirado por mis mensajes y que las personas me conoscan y me adoren por lo que hago y por lo que soy, un artista.

9) If you had the chance to colaborate with anybody, who will be and why?
¿Si tuvieras las oportunidad de colaborar con alguien, quien seria y porque?

Josh:Eminem hands down. Hes my idol and hes inspired me since a child. Id also love to collaborate with Kendrick Lamar, J.cole, Mary J. Blige, Marc Anthony, and the legends.

Josh: Eminem sin duda. Él es mi idolo y me inspira desde pequeño. Tambien me encataria colaborar con Kendrick Lamar, J.cole, Mary J. Blige, Marc Anthony, y las leyendas.
